Rideshare passengers detain driver in West Perth crash that left trail of destruction

A man has been charged after an alleged drink-driving incident caused a cascade of damage in West Perth.

Police allege the 26-year-old man's sedan collided with a rideshare vehicle carrying six passengers at the intersection of Charles St and Carr St, just after 1am on Sunday.

The force of the crash sent the rideshare vehicle, a Toyota Prius, careening into a gas junction outside an apartment complex, rupturing gas pipes.
