Defence lawyer Tony Hager argued his client could comply with strict conditions, including a 24-hour curfew at his father’s mansion, with the promise of $1 million cash for bail surety.
But Magistrate Clare Cullen said Bellinge posed an unacceptable risk to the community.
Key to the decision was dashcam footage from the doctor’s car, not just from the night he allegedly drove 130km/h in a 50km/h zone while drunk and crashed into an Uber, killing Elizabeth Pearce.
