COVID-19 And Ending Your Tenancy in Perth

Hello There,
It has been a long time that I have been living in the same house as a tenant. We have a fixed-term agreement which expires in August 2020. I was not concerned about the end date of the lease earlier as I had shared a great rapport with my landlord. However, he moved out of the country last year and now his son is looking after the rental agreement. I had to face trouble as soon as he took over since he did not get the urgent repair needed in the garage done. I went ahead and got it done myself and then asked for the compensation, but had a dispute with him. I did not take the matter further as I thought that I would be leaving the property soon. I had even thought of hiring bond cleaners in Perth to get the end of lease cleaning done as I knew that he would not give the full deposit back for some reason or the other. However, the worst was waiting to happen, and the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world. I lost my job and have been struggling to pay the rent. There was no way for me to end the lease. I was feeling helpless and anxious when a friend told me about the six-month moratorium which converts fixed-term lease into periodic agreement. It was a relief to know about it and I read about the other new laws of eviction. If you want further clarification about it, then take a look at the article shared below.
