In a sensation at Belmont on Saturday, leading jockey Willie Pike launched a protest against winner Rebel King on the grounds he felt the horse had been aided by a stablemate.
In the Listed Idyllic Prince Stakes, the Darren McAuliffe-trained Rebel King won from the Pike-ridden Man Booker (Daniel Morton) in a tight finish.
However, Pike's bid to win the race didn't stop there, protesting as he believed the McAuliffe-trained By Decree - ridden by Julien Kokotajlo - had actively aided the winning stablemate, ridden by Mitchell Pateman.
However, the stewards didn't agree with Pike - pointing to the fact By Decree was showing a tendency to lay out when ridden along by Kokotajlo - and dismissed the objection.
